Description
Cal. 45 Smoothbore. NSN. Bbl. 2 3/8". Percussion muff produced by an unknown mfg., likely of Belgian origin. Pistol is virtually unmarked, save for a "22" stamped on the right side of the hammer and "./ 25" stamped on the interior of the trigger guard bow. Octagonal bbl., with flat trigger, and slightly offset (to the right) hammer. Metal components have been cleaned and polished in-the-white at one time. 1-piece rnd. butt plain wood stock exhibits an added layer of varnish. Forward screw is absent on the lower tang. CONDITION: metal components have faded to a gray patina, exhibiting scattered patches and areas of light surface oxidation, pitting, and age related discoloration overall. Action functions appropriately when cycled by hand, save for the hammer, which still trips at the half-cock position. Stock shows some scattered marks and impressions, but otherwise remains sound. PROVENANCE: Estate of Groves Herrick. (01-28355/MLW). ANTIQUE. $100-200.
