
This newsprint/insert was produced for the "Festival of Life," a counter-culture event organized by the Youth International Party (Yippies) during the August 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. The Yippies were formed in the 1960s by a group of activists, including Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Paul Krassner, and others, who sought to blend the countercultural ethos of the hippie movement with radical politics and anti-authoritarianism.
This event, which included a historical performance by the MC5, turned into a police riot. It was one of several protests that took place from August 23rd to 29th in opposition to the Vietnam War,
