RARE NYANGA MASK
Beautiful mask very typical of this tribe, the eyes fairly close together, the ears almost glued to them, and the shape of the entire lower face
According to Daniel P. Biebuyck, who lived four years among them, the Nyanga are a small tribe whose population he estimated at 27,000 in 1949.
They live in the province of North Kivu, and stylistically belong to the Umaniema region, like the Kwame, the Kumu, the Lega, the Bembe, the Hunde, etc...
