LC-68 Composite Germanic Percussion Conversion Musket.
.69 caliber. 40.125” barrel. S/N: None. Unknown finish, steel furniture, European hardwood stock with recessed cheek piece. Percussion conversion of French pattern inspired Germanic musket, possibly from Baden, Württemberg, or a similar region with three flat, spring retained barrel bands, no rear sight, a brass front sight blade, sling swivels and an old replacement steel ramrod. No lock or breech markings, Germanic rack marks on butt. A typical example of some of the poor-quality obsolete conversion muskets purchased in Europe by US agents early in the Civil War.
NRA Antique Poor to Fair with a rusted bore. Metal with a thick, uncleaned brown patina, breech tang separated from barrel and crudely reattached. Mechanically functional lock is ill-fitting. Wood with moderate wear and numerous bumps, dings and mars.
ESTIMATE: $200-$400
