
(2) Chinese Silk Scrolls with Print Inserts. One depicts Qin Shi Huangdi, the first Emperor of Unified China, and the other depicts a female figure holding up a child and guiding a crying monk along. Kanji throughout. Writing at the bottom back of the scrolls suggests they are both prints of rubbings of "stele" (correctly spelled stelae), upright slabs or columns that have commemorative inscriptions and relief designs, often used as gravestones or historical markers.
