Cleveland, GA, 20th/21st Century. This whimsical vessel is finished in a rich alkaline glaze exhibiting the beautiful color variation characteristic of the artist's work, ranging from deep brown to yellowish-green. The face is masterfully defined with expressive eyes, a character-filled mouth, and applied ears and handle, showcasing the distinctive artistry of Reggie Meaders. As the second son of Arie and Cheever Meaders and brother to Lanier, Reggie was a central figure in the White County, Georgia, pottery tradition, celebrated for his spirited face jugs and diverse animal forms. The jug bears an incised signature on the base and measures approximately 8 1/2" H x 6" W x 7" D. It remains in good condition.
