These urns date to around the 1830s. The urns are made in a classical Grecian form, with square bases and double handles. Each urn features a beautifully hand painted scene on one side, with a simpler vignette in gold on the opposite side. One urn depicts a boy on a horse, herding cows through a stream, while the other shows a woman herding sheep and a cow in a meadow. The scenes are colorful and detailed, with a lot of visual appeal. The opposing sides have a simple vignette in gold, one of a floral design and one of a classical Greco-Roman helmet. The urns are gilt throughout, very bright and striking. The handles are set with medallions featuring a woman's face. The pair of urns is in good overall condition. There is some wear to the gilding, please let the photos guide your judgment. One of the urns has a hairline to the rim, visible in the tenth photo. There are no chips, no other cracks, no breaks, and no repairs. Each urn stands about 14 ¼ inches tall.
