Each plate is beautifully decorated with a gilt butterfly and plants. The gilding is thick and slightly raised off the surface of the plate. This is a wonderful quality set. The underside of each plate bears the Minton’s mark used between 1873 and 1912. There is a series of three impressed marks on the underside of each plate, one of which (the circle within the triangle) is a date mark for the year 1878.There is also a retailer’s mark for John Mortlock of London. This set is in fabulous overall condition. One of the plates has some crazing and some discoloration as well as a hairline crack. All 10 of the other plates are in wonderful condition and have no cracks, no chips, no crazing and no repairs. Each plate measures 9 1/4 inches in diameter. Weight: 10 lbs 6.1 oz (4710 grams)
