See the seller' listing for full details and description of any imperfections. ,Country of Origin: England,Year Made: 1920s Presented is an antique, English sterling silver and cut crystal/ glass dresser or vanity powder jar of the finest quality made by Finnigans Ltd of London in 1927. The lid is solid sterling silver, has a gold wash and the top is covered with machine turned patterns and a band of raised flowers and leaves along the rim. The threaded rim of the body is also sterling silver. The round, glass jar or box is cut and frosted with swags or festoons of leaves and flowers. Although the photos do not show the glass very well, the quality of the cutting is the best. The underside of the jar has a star-cut mark. This is a wonderful quality piece that is very well made. The underside of the lid and the rim are marked with the leopard's head for the city of London, the lion passant for sterling silver purity and a maker's mark for Finnigans Ltd. The lid also bears a date letter m for the year 1927. We removed the cork to photo the hallmarks. This piece is in excellent condition. There is very minimal surface wear to the underside of the jar, but this is only visible upon very close inspection. The lid screws in completely and very well Diameter: 3 3/4 inches. Height: 2 1/2 inches. Weight of only the sterling silver top : 98 grams. Total weight is 389 grams.
