Description
Antique Persian Hamadan rug was hand knotted in Iran of 100% natural wool. This rug is 90+ years old, has medium wool piles and is in excellent condition for its age. This rug is a beautifully composed hand-knotted Persian Hamadan rug featuring a luminous ivory field anchored by a bold geometric medallion inspired by classic Heriz designs. The field is richly decorated with angular floral and vine motifs rendered in saturated tones of madder red, deep indigo, and soft sky blue, creating strong visual contrast and a highly balanced composition. The corner spandrels and layered borders frame the design with clarity, giving the rug a refined yet distinctly authentic village character. Woven in Northwest Iran, this piece embodies the appeal collectors and designers seek in Persian village rugs—structure, warmth, and subtle irregularity that signals true hand craftsmanship. No repairs, very soft and showing some signs of abrash (uneven fading) due to the use of antiquated vegetable dyes. This rug came from an established rug merchant. Clean and ready to be enjoyed.
