19" spear point blade with two fullers over one fuller. Fish scaler handle and brass crossguard. Marked on one side with Springfield Ames and Eagle. On the reverse, "United States" and dated 1834. Leather scabbard with brass mountings. Marked on the underneath of the guard S. Huse, Newburyport; this is the foundry marking. The blade has a nice patina with clear and crisp markings. The brass with nice, untouched patina. **One pin through the grips is missing. The scabbard is complete and solid; the brass has nice patina. Some cracking on the leather. Overall a very good example that was used by the artillery during the Mexican War.
