Between Wind and Snow presents a solitary tree standing between the snowfield and the shoreline through a highly reduced composition. Sky, sea, and snow are compressed into closely related tonal layers, reducing the world within wind and snow to its essential elements-wind, snow, water, and life. Within the broad expanse of negative space, the tree becomes the only clear structure, and a symbol of time, existence, and strength.
Song Juqiang is a photographer and photography lecturer. He is a member of the China Photographers Association, a micro-class instructor for the association, and a columnist for China Photography News. He studied in the United Kingdom and completed the photobook Floating in Britain, and has been described as the first Chinese photographer to photograph all of Britain. His work is known for its minimalist long-exposure style, and has received wide attention through projects such as Beijing, Beijing.
