Description
West Africa, Ghana/Burkina Faso region, Koma culture, circa 12th - 16th century. A group of two small terracotta abstract head or figure forms, each of tapering pointed construction with raised cylindrical collar and applied or impressed banding around the upper body. One example is of reddish-brown granular clay, with a flared rim and raised band decorated with diagonal impressions. The second is lighter buff-colored terracotta with dark mineral staining and a raised collar with vertical impressed decoration. Size 4 1/4" L, 136 g
