Description
This comprehensive collection of 35 Native American projectile points was recovered from the Wabash River Valley in Indiana, a region rich in prehistoric lithic history. The assemblage showcases a significant variety of local materials, including Indiana Hornstone, Harrison County Chert, and Attica Chert, ranging in color from deep charcoal and banded greys to cream and earthy pink hues. From a collector's perspective, this group is remarkable for its diversity of forms, featuring examples of Early Archaic notched points, Middle Woodland stemmed varieties, and Late Woodland triangular points. Each piece exhibits distinct knapping characteristics, such as percussion thinning and fine pressure flaking along the margins. Included is a custom wood display case with a cotton-batting interior to preserve the delicate edges. The points are in good, stable condition consistent with field-found artifacts; visible wear includes expected prehistoric impact fractures, minor edge nibbling, and some ancient tip loss. H 1.25" to 3", W 0.75" to 1.5", D 0.25". Please see photos for condition.
