Description
This handcrafted trio represents the "Mountain Man" or contemporary "Powwow" style, blending traditional Plains-inspired motifs with modern metaphysical elements. The large ceremonial club (27") features a heavy, double-pointed stone head—likely a dense, fine-grained river basalt or granite—secured with traditional rawhide and accented by red stroud cloth and fur. The beaded lozenge or diamond pattern in blue and white is a classic geometric motif; in Plains cultures like the Lakota or Cheyenne, the diamond often symbolizes the four directions or the "eye" of the Creator, while the color blue represents the sky and spiritual wisdom. The spirit wand (8.25") is a modern artisan piece, incorporating a large amethyst cluster (often associated with peace and intuition) and a clear quartz point, likely intended for contemporary shamanic or decorative use. The carved pipe (15") features folk-art style relief carving on the stem and a functional lidded bowl. The set is in excellent decorative condition, showing only natural stone inclusions and very minor shedding to the fur accents. H 27", W 6.75", D 2" (Large Club); H 15", W 2.25", D 1.25" (Pipe); H 8.25", W 4", D 1.5" (Small Hatchet). Please see photos.
