Description
Rare catalogue of Lucio Fontana's solo exhibition at the historic Galleria L'Attico in Rome, Piazza di Spagna 20, inaugurated on 31 October 1959. Realized in collaboration with Galleria Blu of Milan, the exhibition documents the crucial period of Spatial Concepts. The cover features the iconic motif of 'holes' printed in black on a grey-beige ground with the name FONTANA in red letters, a perfect graphic synthesis of spatialist poetics. Inside, photographic reproductions of works from 1957-1959, including those from the prestigious Cavellini collection of Brescia. Bibliographic document of primary importance for reconstructing Fontana's exhibition activity in the years of his full artistic maturity, when the Italian-Argentine artist consolidated his position as the absolute protagonist of the European avant-garde.
Condition
Cover with light creases and undulations, some moisture stains visible, paper slightly yellowed, overall good condition for a catalogue of 65 years old.
