Description
Catalogue of the retrospective exhibition dedicated to Giuseppe Capogrossi (Rome 1900-1972), master of Italian sign-based abstraction, held at the Sagittaria Gallery in Pordenone in 1979. The publication, curated by the Centro Iniziative Culturali Pordenone under the direction of Luciano Padovese, documents the 109th art exhibition of the Friuli institution. The cover, of remarkable graphic impact, presents an original composition with the celebrated Capogrossi 'sign' ? the stylized comb-like form that the artist developed from 1949 ? printed in black on a vibrant red field. Capogrossi, co-founder of the Gruppo Origine with Burri and Ballocco in 1951, is a central figure in postwar Italian art, whose works are preserved in the major international museums. Catalogue sought after by collectors of graphics and documentation on Italian informal art.
