Description
Georges Bataille, Eroticism, Paris, Les ?ditions de Minuit, 1957. First edition, fourth printing (4th thousand) on ordinary paper. Original publisher's wrappers with the characteristic white and blue cover of the Minuit series. Capital work of Bataillian thought, in which the author develops his theory of transgression and the sacred through the analysis of eroticism as a limit-experience. The volume presents typical patina of age with yellowing of the cover, slightly discoloured spine and minimal signs of use at corners ? condition consistent with age and format. The printing statement mentions 30 copies on Purfil and 5 H.C., but this copy belongs to the ordinary commercial printing. Fundamental text for studies on Surrealism, post-war French philosophy and the theory of erotic literature.
Condition
Cover with uniform yellowing and light traces of use at edges, spine slightly discoloured, corners with minimal wear. Interior presumably in good condition. Copy from the fourth printing (4th thousand) on ordinary paper.
