Description
Rare monograph dedicated to Cesar Baldaccini, master of welded iron sculpture and protagonist of French Nouveau Realisme. Volume IX of the prestigious series 'Artistes de Notre Temps', published by Bodensee Verlag of Amriswil in 1960. The critical text is signed by Douglas Cooper, one of the most authoritative art historians of the twentieth century, intimate of Picasso and curator of foundational exhibitions on Cubism. The cover reproduces one of Cesar's celebrated assembled sculptures, made with compressed and welded metal scraps a technique that made him famous at the Venice Biennale of 1960, the same year as this publication. High quality printing executed at St Gall. Copy in good general condition, with normal patina of use consistent with its age. Significant bibliographic document for the study of European sculpture in the post-war period.
