Description
Ohio River Valley, possibly Pittsburgh or Cincinnati, c. 1825, cherry and mahogany. Carved broken-arch pediment over a waist with figured veneer door flanked by columns, on a base with crotch veneer flanked by columns, all on carved paw feet. The brass movement retains its original painted dial. 98" high. Fully developed classical tall clocks are not common, especially those with paw feet. Another Ohio Valley paw-footed clock sold at Meander Auctions, April 2021, lot 87. That clock had a dial signed by John Petticrew, Corydon, Indiana. Provenance: Collection of Bob and Maxine Edwards, New Philadelphia, Ohio. NOTE: We are happy to answer questions and take additional photos of lots prior to the auction (the sooner submitted the better). Any updates or new photographs will be posted to the catalog on our website. Please check there prior to placing bids to ensure that you have the most up-to-date information.
