Description
(1817-1868) Confederate agent in Cuba, chiefly responsible for organizing shipments of arms and other vital goods into Southern ports via blockade runner. Very scarce autograph D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., Monterey, Oct. 1, 1847, a pass allowing two recently-discharged privates to bear arms as they travel to New Orleans. He signs ‘Ch. J. Helm’ at the conclusion in black ink as adjutant for the 16th Infantry Regiment. Shows folds, toned and with minor soiling overall, otherwise in very good overall condition.
