This lot features a 1961 CA 1 cent coin struck in bronze. The obverse bears the laureate portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the legend ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA. The reverse features the maple leaves design alongside the inscriptions 1 CENT, 1961, and CANADA, with the initials KG for designer George Kruger Gray. This specimen exhibits a mint error, having been struck off-center toward the 4 o'clock position, which resulted in a widened rim at the 10 o'clock position. The coin is housed in a vintage cardboard and mylar flip featuring handwritten transcriptions: 1961 - 1 cent - CANADA and OFF-CENTER on the front; and G. GOEBEL - 923 LANGLOIS AVE. WINDSOR, ONT., TRADED 192359, and UNC. on the reverse. The coin is in uncirculated condition and retains full original mint luster. Both the obverse and reverse exhibit vibrant iridescent rainbow toning. A small dark carbon spot is visible on the Queen's cheek. The coin is not professionally graded by a third party.
