An early 20th-century turn-of-the-century telephone receiver constructed from hard vulcanized rubber (gutta-percha casing) featuring exposed top knurled brass binding posts, an internal magnetic core, and a removable threaded earpiece cap housing its original metal diaphragm disc. This standard long-pole receiver pattern was widely produced by early telecommunications makers such as Western Electric, Kellogg, and Stromberg-Carlson for use on magneto wall phones and early candlestick desk stands. The piece shows light oxidation on the exposed brass terminals, surface rubbing, and age-appropriate patina to the hard rubber shell, but remains in very good overall physical condition with no visible cracks in the body or cap.
