An early mechanical mail labeling machine by McKay Mailing Machines Co. of Chicago, Illinois, featuring a heavy black-enameled cast iron base with original gold pin-striping, top-plate gold leaf branding, and intricate chain-drive mechanics operated by a hand crank with a turned wooden handle. Physical condition shows significant age-appropriate wear including paint loss, flaking to decals, surface rust on metal chain and mechanical linkages, and severe dry cracking with minor loss to the rubber roller surfaces; turning the crank will damage or destroy the fragile rubber rollers.
