Early mechanical calculating mechanism or tally register module, featuring exposed gear-driven brass and steel counter wheels, an end-mounted knurled adjustment knob, and a bank of cream-colored celluloid key caps—including a "REPEAT" key—mounted to a solid wooden base. Originally engineered as an internal core module for late 19th to early 20th-century commercial calculating machines, these units were deployed across high-volume administrative, banking, freight depot, and accounting offices to balance ledgers and calculate line items. Operational with functional keys, showing natural surface oxidation, dark patina to the metal frame, light scuffs on the wood, and mild yellowing to key caps; mechanism would benefit from light oiling for smoother action.
