Handsome intricately detailed Indo-Persian axe also known as a Tabarzin or saddle axe, often used by mounted warriors and as symbolic weapons or marks of office. Extremely intricate scenes etched to all sides the axe including cats hunting game. Axe is very heavy weight with a hammer butt. These axes were a standard weapon for cavalry in various armies, including the Sikh Khalsa army in the 17th and 18th centuries. Size 22 3/8" L, blade 4 1/4" W, axe head 7 1/8" L
