India, 18th to 19th century. Indian talwar sword with a curved single edged steel blade, showing visible watered or folded patterning and a partially polished blade mark that appears to read ?XX.? The iron or steel hilt is decorated in high relief with scrolling foliate designs, with a pierced pommel fitted with a red textile tassel.
