Length:126cm(49.61in)Width:51.2cm(20.16in)This is a silk?figured vertical scroll Magu Presenting Longevity by Jincheng of the Republic of China, in original antique mounting with light?beige patterned silk and mahogany scroll rollers. The outer label reads Authentic Figure Masterpiece Scroll by Jin Beilou. Painted in colour on silk, it depicts the classic theme of Magu presenting longevity. An aged pine tree twists vigorously with dense pine needles. Magu appears gentle and elegant, hair adorned with flowers, dressed in gorgeous multi?layered robes with soft refined colours, holding peony branches. Beside her stands a sacred spotted deer carrying treasure vessel and fruit basket on its back, symbolizing fortune and longevity. The upper right bears artist’s inscription dated spring bingxu, painted in style of Yuan?dynasty masters, signed Jincheng of Wuxing Beilou together with two artist seals. Executed in Yuan?school manner, the work features delicate fluent figure outlines, gorgeous mild colouring and fine rendering of scenery with well?balanced composition. The silk bears natural aged traces and remains in good condition, being a fine representative meticulous?figure work of Jincheng.
