A fantastic Egyptian Coptic page from a parchment book, c. 5th-7th Century AD, in Coptic text with attractive penmanship. The pages are numbered '131 and 132', front and back, indicating that this page is from a book that was quite large. The words and phrases translated from this page include 'sin', 'wage war against him', and 'we are in his hand' seem to indicate that the book this page belonged to was likely a collection of Christian homilies from the time, and a very interesting religious document. W: 65 mm (2 5/8"), H: 67 mm (2 5/8"). Set in an attractive frame (frame measures 9 1/2" x 7 1/2"). Ex Hamdy Sakr collection; previously in the private collection of Alex Anckonie III, acquired during his time in the Navy in the 1960's - 1970's.
