Details: 11Pcs This lot consists of several uniform items and other ephemera found in a box with an inventory identified to Civil War officer Sergeant Major Martin Van Bucen Mattison of the 125th regiment of New York State Volunteers.

Regalia includes two red tasseled sashes. One bears a name tag with Mattison's name and is gathered at the end with braided tassels. Measures 3.5" x 95". The second lays flat and the tassels have knotted detailing at the top. Measures 11.5" x 118". Two shoulder boards with bullion trim and one bar on a blue velvet background and black backing sewn to stiff mesh. Measures 2" x 4.7". One thin metal infantry insignia pin in the shape of a trumpet with tassels. Overall measurements of 2.25" x 1.5". One regimental metal for 1862-1865. The pin features rifles crossed at the top and 125 in a clover. Overall measurements of 1.6" x 2.5".

Ephemera includes Mattison's clipped signature on a 2" x 3.5" card and two 125 regiment reunion ribbons dated 1889 and 1890 which measure 2" x 7". Also included is handwritten and photocopied research found with the collection.

These items were found in a black metal lock box with working key from Eagle Lock Co. of Terryville Connecticut. Measurements of the box are 10.25" W x 4.5" H x 7.5" D.

This lot is from the estate of a well-known and well-respected lifetime Civil War collector in Upstate New York. Worth Auctions will feature scores of antique firearms, edged weapons, paintings, and unusual items over the next few months. A selection of post-1898 firearms by major manufacturers will also be featured.

Condition / Notes: These items are in excellent condition and show signs of normal period wear that may include patina, abrasions, rust and soiling. Infantry Insignia is missing pin on back.
