Description
An Aaron Willard Jr. gold front banjo clock, Boston, circa 1820. Recoil escapement, alternate train, mounted with two diagonal through bolts, long straight click pawl, duck bill lead weight. Mahogany case with gilt molding, rope twist trim, and acorn finial, reverse painted glass panels at the throat and tablet. Painted iron dial with black Roman numerals and faded signature. 33 1/2" high. Running when catalogued. Dial with craquelure overall and spots of paint loss, the two glass panels are old replacements. Reference A.
