A wonderful old Chinese toggle crafted from burlwood in the form of a seated man, his head resting on one hand and the other holding a large bag over his shoulder. This larger sized toggle would have been strung with cord through the holes under each arm, hung from sash and used as a counterweight to a tobacco pouch or other utilitarian object. A wonderful example of Chinese folk art, this toggle has a beautiful aged patina and dates from mid 1700’s to 1800’s. DIMENSIONS: 2” high (5.2 cm) x 2 ¼” wide (5.8 cm).
