Lot 0184
Eva Zeisel, an extremely rare prototype Platter from the South Mountain Stoneware line, the ornament almost certainly by Zeisel, Watt Pottery, Crooksville, Ohio, 1954-1955, never put into production. Dia. 14 1/4 in. (36.1 cm). 1620-175
Provenance: Dennis Thompson, a historian of Watt Pottery
Note: The directors of Watt Pottery were unhappy with Zeisel’s selection of Cadoret’s designs as decorations and the line was never produced. It is not clear if Cadoret is the author of the ornament on this platter. In 1959, however, some of Zeisel’s shapes were incorporated into Watt Pottery’s popular Orchard Ware line.

Condition

Overall good condition. Some small wear to front and back, including a small square-shaped accretion.
