BAKER, WILLIAMSBURG CLIFTON REPRODUCTION, MAHOGANY HIGH CHEST OF DRAWERS, C2000, H 98", W 45", D 23":Baker, Williamsburg Clifton modern reproduction of an 18th century high chest of drawers originally produced by Henry Clifton and Thomas Carteret in 1753. Designed in the late Baroque style. Having flame urn finials on the corners and a central cartouche with sunflowers on the pediment top. The upper and lower cases are framed by fluted columns and the base of the lower case has a scalloped apron with a central carved shell. The top and bottom center drawers are decorated with recessed carved shells and flowing grasses with the remaining drawers enhanced by molded sand cast hanging brass pulls and bezels. Mounted on cabriolet legs with claw and ball feet.
On the bottom piece, along the upper edge where the top piece fits in, there are multiple chips and scuffs. Also along this edge, there are multiple small spots of fading. At the top, where the finial fits in, there is a 2" chip. The bottom drawer of the top piece has a 2" chip to the interior edge of the riser, and the drawer above it has a 1/2" chip in the same place. RB 6-8-18
