Strahalm was born in Vienna, Austria in 1897 and died in Dallas, Texas in 1935. Franz Strahalm traveled and lived all over the country and lived in Mexico City in 1909; San Antonio in 1911; and finally setting down in Dallas, as a professional landscape painter, mural painter, lecturer and teacher. Strahalm studied Art in Vienna, Hamburg, Italy, and France before moving to the United States. Strahalm exhibited with the Society of Independent Artist, 1925, 1928, He was a member of the Alliance of Southern States Art League. Strahalm was a teacher/founder of the San Antonio School Fine Painting, 1919.
