Maurice de Vlaminck (French, 1876-1958) After/in the manner of: oil on canvas, signed, framed, with decorative stamps verso. Maurice de Vlaminck was a prominent member of the Fauvists who exhibited frequently with artists like Andre Derain and Henri Matisse. He drew inspiration from the style of Vincent van Gogh and the subject matter of Henri de Toulouse- Lautrec to reinvent portrait painting as an almost impersonal cartoon.
