Based on the Russian 1881 pattern saber and scabbard for dragoons, this saber bears Persian markings on the ricasso, indicating it was likely imported into present day Iran from Russia or Turkey, or perhaps even a German maker, likely in period of 1900-1920. The blade is very good, in the bright, with good point and edge, and crisp marks on the obverse ricasso. The grip and hilt are likewise very good. The brass hilt has a mellow patina. The scabbard has some minor dings and chipping to its black paint, but is still good overall and retains its correct, single, sling ring near the throat.
