Medicine of Galenus. GAZOLA, Giuseppe. Il mondo ingannato da falsi medici. Trento, Brunati, s.d.ma 1717

16mo, 146x80 mm; full stiff vellum binding with squares, gilt titles on label at the spine. Slight damage at the spine. Fine copy.

Condition

Fine work by Gazola, against the Galenic medical school and founder of the Accademia degli Aletofili in Verona, with the aim of overcoming the corporate methods of the local Collegio dei Medici. The work was published posthumously in 1716 with the false site of Prague for precautionary purposes and he has been acquainted with numerous editions and translations in various European languages. Asperrima is the controversy with galenicians, representatives of traditional medical dogmatics and judged as triggers of further suffering in patients who have already been tested (Gazola believes it is better to be without a doctor than to have a good one) in a true dissertation of philosophy of medicine which profoundly innovates its presuppositions in Italy, triggering strong polemics and numerous critical responses.
