Chinese nephrite jade Buddha figure of Vajradhara and consort Bhagavani, the primordial Buddha of Tantric Buddhism and the spiritual source for the Buddhist Tantric literature. Vajradhara, Buddha. The primordial buddha, personification of the dharmakaya - truth body of enlightenment and progenitor of the Vajrayana system of Buddhism. According to the Nyingma Tradition of Tibetan Buddhism Vajradhara is an activity emanation of buddha Samantabhadra. Seated position with two hands holding vajra around his consort. Beautiful clean translucent even tone, finely polished stone, moist milky appearance all over surfaces. This sculpture appears to be the perfect example, by any artistic tradition, both for technical precision and exquisite form. The proportions of the body are exact and the overall presence and beauty make this sculpture a precious artistic treasure. Underside with incised quatrefoil flori-form petal visvavajra mark surrounding the centralized DaiJi.
