This now is most of our 40th anniversary sale, a few more things will go on. This a truly exceptional on-line and in-house auction, scheduled for Sunday, September 8th. In recognition of the 40 years of continuous operation of auctions at the Old Red Barn, as well as my first year of its on-line transition. In house preview options are listed in preview section, with attention to any specific lots being available to be seen by appointment through our contacts info. The complete sale will hold offerings from a full range of cultural and period things of extreme importance, museum candidates and internationally desired things, down to very special antiques, antiquities, ethnographic arts, as well as important paintings and drawings that range from numerous old master works through to the 20th century, including sculpture. It will be presented in numerous tranches of 40 lots, the first incorporating world class 'big' auction things and museum caliber treasures. Those to be followed by numerous descending tranches of varied things of importance, down to an extensive body of just fine antiques and good art properties with a strong emphasis on great value though out.If interested, by hitting the small 'more' in blue. above, the rather wordy preface to this sale, much can be learned. Being pretty busy with images, listing and catch up on this sale, we recognize, of the numerous questions received, we constantly owe answers, thanks for any patience, we'll get to all.
The lots in this first tranche of 40 are populated with museum types and much usually found in 'big' auction, Those type things will extend, at least some, into the 2nd tranche of 40, perhaps a few beyond.
This sale is offered exclusively from one owner, a nearly 60 years very active collector with mostly unseen and fresh to the market art properties of all measures of world cultures and range of periods as well as values. The average time since purchased are about 30-40 years with lesser few of the recent 5 years. We estimate 15-25,000 individual things. With reasonable success, promised forward, we will be offering extensively further and possibly also exclusively, from this incredibly fine collection, as well as expectations of like consignments from others.
Seeing now, with 10 days to sale, interest in most, yet some few with no or little interest. Being an octogenerian and wishing to see a transfer to new owners, we are here to sell, and will likely be lowering expectations on a few of those by lowering the initial bid price.
