Description
A BRONZE GUARDIAN DEITY RIDING ON A LION
Sino-Mongolian, 17th / 18th century. An expressively crafted bronze sculpture displaying a figure with a naked upper body riding on a lion (in the style of the Chinese shizi of the Ming period) with slightly turned back head and decorated with a small bell and tassels. The rider presenting a stretched and naked upper body, whereas the shoulders are covered, facial expression similar to a Krodha deity (guardian spirit, Tibet), coiled headdress, one hand resting on the side, the other raised and holding a sphere. Tiny feet covered with boots.

Condition: Very good and dark patina, a small loss to liontail - overall in good condition.
