Description
Project Mercury Brochure. NASA brochure with photographs of the Mercury capsule during development and tests. Langley was the first NASA center where astronauts were based. Approximately 8x10 inches, 4 pages.

perhaps the last signed brochure of this type from the Cooper estate.
The autographs represent one of the earliest group signatures done by the Mercury astronauts just after their selection by NASA in April 1959. A collective decision was made by the astronauts to autograph a very limited number of these pamphlets for their personal collections.
Signed vertically to the right of their respective pictures, "M. Scott Carpenter, Leroy G. Cooper Jr., John H. Glenn Jr., Virgil I. Grissom, Walter M. Schirra Jr., Alan B. Shepard Jr., and D. K. Slayton."
