Description
Franklin D. Roosevelt Campaign Pinbacks & Memorabilia, 120+ Pcs

An outstanding collection of over 120 pieces of campaign memorabilia related to Franklin Delano Roosevelt's four presidential elections in 1932, 1936, 1940, and 1944. Pieces include pinback buttons and jugates, coattail buttons, lapel pins, and campaign button tabs. Displayed in an aesthetically pleasing montage on a black felt-covered mat measuring 24.375" x 16.5". The lot comes with an optional wooden and glass showcase behind which the mat was originally displayed. There are many gems in this completely unpicked collection waiting to be discovered! Provenance: From the lifelong collection of a Greenwich, Connecticut gentleman.

FDR's unprecedented four election wins produced a sense of political continuity that no other American president had experienced before or has recaptured since. Many of the campaign buttons here emphasize the advantages of this consistency

FDR had carefully steered the nation through the Great Depression and World War II, and would follow through if elected. A perfect example of this is found in the "Don't Change the Pilot, Re-Elect F.D. Roosevelt, Fortis Non Timet" button, where the Latin motto roughly translates to "Do Not Fear Strength." Or, the "Carry on with Roosevelt" and "We Want Roosevelt Again" buttons.

A cast-metal pin depicting FDR and vice presidential running mate John N. Garner in bas relief was manufactured by Green Duck Co. in Chicago and is highly collectible. Campaign memorabilia represented special interest groups, such as the poor
