G.", betitelt, bezeichnet sowie von fremder Hand in Bleistift bezeichnet "(1658)". Punktuell auf Unterlage montiert, diese unter Passepartout montiert. - In den Ecken mit leichten Spuren der Montierung, vermutlich Kleber, von verso durchkommend. Punktuell sehr feines Craquelé und Farbausbrüche, vermutlich als Folge einer öl- oder eiweißhaltigen Firniß. Insgesamt sehr gut.Nicht bei Nagler. - Die Darstellung zeigt eine Blaukrabbe aus Vogelperspektive. Ausgehend von der Bezeichnung rechts war die Studie womöglich als Tafel angedacht als Illustration für eine naturwissenschaftliche Publikation, hierfür spricht die Angabe einer Seitenzahl. Die Blaukrabbe ist vorrangig in den Vereinigten Staaten an der westlichen Atlantikküste beheimatet und zeichnet sich durch ihre charakteristischen Scheren in leuchtendem Blau. Die rosafarbenen Scherenspitzen unseres Exemplars sind ein Erkennungsmerkmal dafür, dass es sich hier um ein Blaukrabben-Weibchen handelt.Watercolour on laid paper. Spot-mounted to underlying mat and matted. - Slight traces of mounting in the corners, presumably adhesive, coming through On the verso. Very fine craquelure and losses of colour in places, presumably as a result of a varnish containing oil or egg white. Overall very good. - Not in Nagler. - The depiction shows a bird's eye view of a blue crab. Based on the designation on the right, the study was possibly intended as an illustration for a plate of a cientific publication, as indicated by the page number. The blue crab is primarily native to the United States on the western Atlantic coast and is characterised by its distinctive claws in bright blue. The pink-coloured tips of the claws of our specimen are a distinguishing feature that this is a female blue crab. 400
