Attempted to get shipping info through 3 inquiries. No replies. Paid according to invoice. Item never delivered. Subsequent inquiry likewise left unanswered.

Trouble With Shipper
Won my item and paid for it immediately. Contacted their designated shipper and made arrangements for pickup, packing, and shipping. Agreed on tentative price. Then apparently Merrill's had some sudden break with their shipper, who told me they had been dismissed and to contact Merrill's. Merrill's proposed another shipper, who I engaged. The result was that I got my item, but with a week's extra delay and about 50 % higher shipping cost that I was originally quoted be the former shipper. (Both, I believe, were UPS Stores.)

Merrill's might seem to be a little slow in responding to inquiries, but in my case, they were working behind the scenes to figure out how to ship a large and fragile item across several states. When it arrived, it turned out even better than the pictures. I'll definitely be bidding with them again.

Ignored my request to get lots paid and shipped! NO communication. TERRIBLE shipping rates. DONE.
Another auction house is now on my NO list. With NO inhouse shipping these places are sending our lots to outside shippers who are positively GOUGING us. I just paid MORE to get these three lots from VT than I paid last month to get a BIGGER box of dolls from GERMANY. I have been buying for resale and collecting for several years and am keeping a list of who to no longer buy from and that now includes D. Merrill. They have TERRIBLE communication. They have ONE outsider shipper who charged 3x what MY fed ex account would have charged for that size box. RIDICULOUS. Auction was Apr. 1 just now having my lots shipped out after phone calls and messages.

A really really great auction house!
Customer service was prompt and very kind and everything was perfect overall. I wish they would add more pictures but it won't stop me from buying from them again. I love this auction house.

Wrongly Identified Works and Never Refunded Payment
One of the artworks involved, a pastel, was wrongly identified and was neither old or even American-very poor cataloging. Frame on the wrongly identified work was damaged in shipping (due to bad construction), so I contacted DM and returned the work and the damaged frame in separate boxes to make sure the pastel would not be damaged. I have not-after nearly 4 weeks-received a refund for the returned work. I would not purchase from them again. G. , Huntington Museum of Art.

Never responds to emails
I paid for the 2 items totalling more than $900. Immediately after I was sent the invoice. I have called 4 + times and left messages and sent emails too regarding sending the 2 items. One was needed for a Christmas gift but they never responded. Never!

I wrote to merrill's to tell them there was varnish or some other material that can't be removed and this was not revealed in the condition report. i would not have purchased the item had i know that. furthermore, the auction did not respond to my complaint or offer to take back the item, which is what i'd like to do.
