Taking its title from the iconic Currier & Ives print depicting George Washington as the “Father" and Abraham Lincoln as the “Savior" of the nation, The Fathers and the Saviors of Our Country: A Presidential Sale brings together extraordinary artifacts that trace the arc of American leadership from the founding generation through the crucible of Civil War and beyond. At its heart are objects that illuminate the character, conviction, and consequence of the men who shaped the Republic—Founding Fathers who forged a new government from revolution, and Presidents who preserved, tested, and redefined it in moments of profound national trial. These figures were not only officeholders but architects of American identity, guiding the country through independence, expansion, division, and reunion. The sale features numerous works appearing for the first time at auction, including a previously unknown oil portrait of a beardless Abraham Lincoln by Charles Barry—an arresting likeness from the earliest period of his national ascent. Also offered is an autograph memorandum penned by Lincoln on September 22, 1862, the very day he delivered the Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, a document that stands at the moral and constitutional turning point of the Civil War. Complementing these is a significant archive relating to John Wilkes Booth, whose assassination of President Lincoln on April 14, 1865, was the final, horrific trial of a nation already reeling from four years of war. Together, these materials form a powerful narrative of vision and sacrifice—of founders and preservers—presented in a landmark auction honoring the enduring legacy of America’s political leaders.

Very pleased with Cincinnati location.

The Cincinnati location is top drawer. The young lady I dealt with was extremely sharp, answered a couple of questions I had and was able to take my payment and arrange shipping all during the same phone call. She even spotted a discrepancy in my mailing address, that she corrected then and there. I will definitely be bidding with them in the future.
