very nice piece

Bidding was easy with Treadway correcting a bid during the auction. Payment and receipt was very fast, with very careful packaging. I will follow Treadway.

Great to work with

In the auction listing, Treadway described a ceramic vase I bought as in "excellent original condition." In fact there are two areas of damage that didn't show in the front-and-back photos with the listing, because they are at the side: a bruise with glaze loss on one handle, and a 1/4 "chip from a projecting ridge around the body. The damages are post-production, but not new. I sent a clear photo of the damage and Treadway answered that it was my problem. I will never buy from them again.

My art arrived without its frame. I contacted the auction and was told the frame would be sent but weeks later I have not received it. The auction showed me a photo of the frame but it was without glass which would originally have been there as the art is on paper. I'm doubtful that I will receive the frame and if I do it will likely be without glass. Also, I sent a check to cover the item because Treadway's charge card policy adds so much additional charge to, I assume, discourage paying by card. Mail takes time and Treadway should look at other auction policies. I never pay as much with others as Treadway charges. In all, not a great auction experience with these people.

I won a lot of 6 brooches from Treadway, and paid for my lot and for the shipping. After about 3 weeks of not hearing anything I called them to check where my items were (I tried emailing first but got no response). They had never sent the items because they had "misplaced" half of the items and never contacted me about this. The only positive thing I can say is they did refund my purchase fairly quickly after I spoke with them, but I think if I hadn't followed up I never would have heard from them (or got my refund). I can't recommend this auction house.

I have written to Treadway several times to point out that the tiffany vase was over 100 years old to pay 10 % VAT at customs but it charged me 22 %. Bruno

Wonderful and beautiful items in their auctions. So many lots in varying prices that everyone can afford. Lots are well photographed and very descriptive.

Poor description, very friendly staff, but I would definitely inspect items in person. 30 % buyers premium doesn’t represent any professional evaluation or accurate description of item sold. This is the first issue I’ve had with the gallery. I did email them a friendly note describing my dissatisfaction with pictures but didn’t get a reply.

After demanding full CC information to approve for bidding, has not included wiring instructions on invoice, did not respond to asking for wiring instructions and did not charge card for a week and responded only after several emails. Two weeks after wire they have not acknowledged receipt or gave time-frame for shipping. NEVER again using their service.

I was very pleased with how responsive Treadway was to my questions about condition-even up to the day before the auction. They sent follow up photos and accurate answers.

Was able to obtain a high quality Georg Jensen broach. Shipped promptly at a reasonable cost.

poor communication, excessive charges for premiums, credit card fees and shipping. A $1, 000 painting ended up costing almost $1, 400 and with the time that past, I ended up with additional costs from a knee operation and offered to purchase the painting at a reduced amount using a credit card, money I didn't have. Almost all of this was MY problem, I bid too much without checking and then didn't have the money to send payment. Sorry, my bad judgement bidding on the piece. if I must, I will consummate the transaction. Charles
