Helmuth Stone Gallery wanted to charge me $65.00 to ship the earrings from Florida to Ohio. They are $200 earrings that weighed very little. Note: (I was charged $25 to ship 2 day air from London England to Ohio a $900 pair of shoes that weighed 5 pounds.) Due to the shipping charges which they would not reduce, I went to Florida and picked the item up at the gallery.

Purchase date 1/20, Payment date 1/22, In-house shipping payment 2/4, Rec'd 2/15. Excellent packing.

Shipment seemed to take longer than expected-not delivery. However very well packed.

Somewhat Expensive to Ship

It might have helped generate more bids if this piece was photographed without the glass protection which sullied the colors and fuzzed the clarity a bit. Once I got it home (shipped w/o the glass) I was impressed by how vibrant it was in person, in its colors forms and wonderfully diverse textures. Otherwise Helmuth Stone was very good, and Mr. Stone's answers to my questions and managing of how this piece was shipped was also exceptional.

Misleading information on auction lot, deceptive practice!

It was so unfortunate that the painting of the clowns that I had the winning bid on could not be found and therefore had to be withdrawn from my order. Other than that situation the pickup and payment went smoothly.

I entered an absentee bid. When I look at the bidding history on your site, it appears that there were no countervailing bids, yet the final price was the high estimate, and the history shows only my bids as escalating to that price. I did not see a Reserve notice; yet, even if there was one, surely it isn't the high estimate? So basically, if I am interpreting it correctly, they simply extracted the maximum I was willing to pay as the hammer price-this is NOT absentee bidding, wherein the responsibility of the auction house is accept your bid up to your maximum only to counter other bids.
