I purchased here often over the years and they are a perfect 5 Star Auction House. This purchase was a large item 30 + inches. UPS packed this amazingly. The box had clearly been dropped or simply damaged somehow, however the items was packed so well it arrived in perfect condition. If you are bidding online dont worry if you are purchaseing a large item. UPS was fantastic and the item arrived unharmed. Enjoy your next auction! Cheers!

The basic auction experience, billing and payment: all well handled and efficiently managed by the Fontaine staff. Shipping provided by the recommended UPS Store was very pricey (I thought) and a lengthy process. Over $200 for 6 small items, total weight around 11 pounds plus insurance to me here in Atlanta. When I priced it out on my own the total came to a fraction of what they charged me.

This particular auction here is a very straightforward honest realistic seller. Who doesn’t exaggerator over inflate prices on items. This is a big problem for those of us bidding. Unrealistic sellers is the number one issue facing live auctioneers. I bought a very nice marble bust 19th century signed for a fair and reasonable price. The auctioneer was straightforward let the process move through without an excessively high reserve. Many of our live auction houses particularly in California will offer items with excessively high unrealistic reserves. They then proceed to list at 10:15 20 even 30 times. This completely destroys the value of the item in the eyes of the buyer. Instead of asking for a fair price and letting the market determine the cost to be paid. They have an excessively high reserve, and what are relatively common place auction items. I wish the sellers would know how destructive that process is. When you offer let’s say a pair of vases for $45, 000. Knowing full well that the real price is somewhere in the range of five to $7000. You completely destroy the item not only do not sell it it goes up again and again and again. When I see that an item has been up more than four or five times. I automatically assume it’s an item in distress and never offer more than 20 % of the reserve if not less.
