Auction houses making money on shipping
Reached out to auction house and requested a call or follow up, had a canned response and requested again for a person to reach out to me regarding shipping. Auction house never reached out and went forward with shipping without my consent.

Davis Brothers AuctionMay 22, 2026
Shipping consent is granted when registering and bidding under our published auction terms. As clearly disclosed prior to bidding, all shipping is handled in-house and shipping charges are added after the sale. We do not pause fulfillment waiting for individual shipping approvals on completed orders. We also do not offer phone-based customer service. All communication is handled in writing to maintain consistency and accuracy across the thousands of orders we process. The claim that we “make money on shipping” ignores the realities of labor, packing materials, insurance, processing time, and carrier costs. Shipping is not just postage. We stand by our policies and procedures.

A solid, reliable, auction house
I'm geographically far from Davis Brothers Auctions, but I've purchased there a number of times. I've not yet been disappointed with the lots that I've won. They have good items, accurately described, with low opening bids. They rapidly reply to messages/inquiries. Packing and shipping is done in house and FAR better and less expensive than the shipping that Liveauctioners is now trying to push on buyers everywhere. I wish Davis Brothers luck in the future, and also wish more auction houses were this solid and dependable.

Not a pleasant experience
The item itself is fine and as described but expect to pay triple in shipping fees. I will not be participating in any future auctions.

Ripoff shipping rate; totally uncaring seller just out to profit
I won an auction for a skinny book, paid $45 plus fees totaling $58. Seller had sent an invoice with $68 for shipping a skinny book, seemed about triple what it should be. Contacted the auction house numerous times but it became apparent they were unhelpful and determined to screw me on shipping in order to line their pockets with profit. They resisted telling me what shipper they were quoting on, or what service. Finally they admitted to a "minimum $55 shipping rate regardless of how small the item, even a ring". That should tell you right there what their goal is: maximize profit via inflated shipping rates. I refused their invoice and changed it to "buyer arranged" shipping but they would not budge. They then threatened me with confiscation and no refund, stating "Your order is considered paid to forfeit the item". I have not forfeited it. They are trying to steal this item that I already paid for; I am the legal owner. LiveAuctioneers has been assisting me with this problem but so far have not received any action from the auction house. I have bought thousands of items at auction but have never had to deal with such a scummy and sleazy seller who cares nothing about the buyer or the auction experience, and instead is solely focused on screwing them in order to profit. DO NOT bid with Davis Brothers unless you are willing to get screwed. They are the WORST auction house I have ever dealt with and should be kicked off this platform. I only wish I had read all the bad reviews of this auction house before considering bidding. I would not have bid. And will never deal with them again; I urge other bidders to do the same.

Davis Brothers AuctionMay 14, 2026
This review is extremely misleading and omits critical facts. The buyer is located in Canada. International shipping from the United States to Canada is significantly more expensive than domestic shipping, regardless of item size. In this case, the carrier label cost alone was approximately $55 before labor, packing materials, insurance, customs documentation, and processing time were even considered. Our minimum shipping charge is publicly disclosed in our Terms & Conditions prior to bidding. We do not make exceptions for buyers who decide after the sale that they dislike international shipping costs. The buyer also attempted to override our in-house shipping policy after the auction concluded. We do not permit buyers to unilaterally rewrite transaction terms after purchase. We reject the accusations and inflammatory language in this review. Thousands of successful transactions are completed through our company every month under the exact same published policies.

Vicious and arrogant seller
Seller is vicious and threatening. Demands exorbitant shipping fees that are five times higher than normal, and when a more economical alternative is requested the seller cancelled the transaction.

Davis Brothers AuctionMay 13, 2026
This review is false. We do not negotiate shipping methods after a sale is completed, nor do we ship using uninsured or untracked services simply because a buyer demands a cheaper option. Our shipping rates reflect professional packing, labor, tracking, insurance, and carrier costs. If a buyer refuses our published shipping policies or attempts to dictate terms after purchase, we reserve the right to cancel the transaction. Enforcing clearly disclosed policies is not “threatening.” It is how a professional business operates.

Leaving vague insults instead of actual details says more about the reviewer than our business. Our terms, photos, shipping policies, and auction procedures are publicly available before anyone bids. Thousands of successful buyers manage to read and understand them without issue. We stand by our process and our reputation.

Decent auction but ridiculous shipping
$25 minimum shipping to mail a postcard is kind of a joke.

Very expensive shipping
I paid $33 to ship less than one pound of items, and it took two weeks to receive my items. I would not bid with them again based on the shipping experience.

Buyers beware
Called auction house over six times trying to discuss shipping. They use an AI agent and refuse to answer the phone and DO NOT RETURN CALLS. Item was not located where the auction house had claimed that it was (Montana) and was in another country entirely. Item was shipped with no discussion about packaging (I would have paid more to package it correct), was stuck in customs for weeks, and finally arrived completely broken. I don't know what changed with these guys but I'm not bidding with them ever again. Like a truly horrible and frustrating experience.

This review is inaccurate and omits key details. We do not offer phone-based customer service, and this is clearly disclosed. All communication is handled in writing to ensure accuracy and consistency across the high volume of orders we process. Regarding shipping: items are shipped from the location specified in the listing or from the appropriate facility handling that lot. International shipments are subject to customs processing, which is entirely outside of our control and can result in delays. All items are professionally packed according to our standard procedures.

Buyer beware!
The auction house is not transparent with their shipping policies. The cost to ship an item was more than the item itself. The auction for my item was finished 2/13/26 and as of 3/9 the items haven’t been shipped even with a $50 shipping charge for an item under a pound.

Davis Brothers AuctionMar 09, 2026
FFL items require special shipment, are you mad about the shipping cost or mad about how long it takes for us to process over 1, 500 orders for shipment where we clearly states. Have you sent us your FFL paperwork? Are you aware your item is a lower and requires to be sent via 2-day mail? No. Go threaten someone else on a chargeback, your money and business is no good here. Criminal.

do not do business with this company
They are a total ripoff. They wouldn't combine shipping items and their shipping rates are sky high. You cannot talk to a person and they have zero interest in making you happy. They are all about the money. I will never do business with them again.

Davis Brothers AuctionMar 09, 2026
Customer purchased on two different platforms, due to the extremely large volume of orders we handle we cannot combine shipping if you buy on two different platforms. Customer only cares about making money-tells you the type of buyer they are. 1 star review or money back.

It would be better to have more info on the lots proposed and more photos.

DECEPTION of Bamboo Rod Length!
They advertised an 8 'Granger bamboo fly rod which I bid heavily on, since it's a very desirable length by this company. What I received in the mail 3 weeks later was a NINE FOOT Granger!! 😡 I immediately took pics of the rod sections next to a yardstick as proof of their error in shipping the wrong rod and emailed Davis Brothers that same day. THEY claimed I bought the rod AS IS along with ANY mistake they made in the description so I was "stuck like chuck" as they say. THEY were very UNWILLING to accept their error, offer a partial or full refund or cooperate at all with this major issue!! I then got LiveSupport involved to help rectify this problem. They emailed Davis to notify them they "should" depict their items accurately and to work with me on this problem. ALL I've heard from Davis since then is QUIET. No reply, no offer to work with me or offer to take their bait & switched item back then offer a refund, to keep relations amicable. ALL they did was state they take ZERO responsibility for description, error, neglect, omission Yada yada yada for whatever WE, the buyers, get STUCK with!!!! LiveSupport eventually sided with Davis, thereby leaving me hanging out to dry with no help. Buyer beware with THIS auctioneer, Davis! IF I were you, I would ask for many detailed pictures before you bid, including some type of measuring tool verifying the exact length of each rod section! Signed, 1 VERY disappointed buyer who got "taken".

Davis Brothers AuctionMar 07, 2026
All auction items are sold as-is, and bidders are encouraged to review the photos carefully and request additional information prior to bidding if they have questions about condition or measurements. This is standard practice across the auction industry. We understand not every purchase meets a buyer’s expectations, but the transaction followed the platform’s rules and the matter was resolved through their support process.

Great Experience
We’ve purchased from Davis before and our experiences have always been positive. They describe their items accurately with great pictures and descriptions and they have an interesting selection of items in every auction. The best part is that they have in house shipping that is reasonable and professional. Everything is wrapped carefully and quickly shipped.

Great product and came quickly, securely.
First time winning from the auction house and it was great!! Took a bit longer than expected to let me know the shipping cost; however, arrived secure, safe, and as I'd have packed and shipped it!! Will bid on other stuff from them!!

Won’t answer the phone or respond to voice message
Left 6 messages and never responded. Dishonest at the least. Say shipping is cheapest carrier. Charged me $25 to ship small, thin book. Wont be bidding here anymore. Been three weeks since they charged my card and still haven’t received my purchase.

Davis Brothers AuctionMar 04, 2026
$25 is our minimum shipping cost. A very fair price compared to industry standards.

Never received my items
NEVER RECEIVED ITEMS, FedEx fraudulently signed for my items and I never got them, Kaylene at Davis Brothers is no help!! I had to beg for her to file a claim. FedEx Shows that there was a signature that was not my signature, and I have sent numerous items of documentation as proof I never received the items and it’s not my signature and not delivered to my house. I called FedEx who said that Davis Brothers needs to file a dispute but I can’t get them to respond or even care that my $2000 is missing. I have contacted my attorney about suing for the refund. I would not trust them with anything over $100 because if something happens to your items they basically tell you to F off. I work hard for my money and can’t afford for $2000 to just disappear. I made sure I did my part and paid right away but they refuse to do their part and file the dispute to get me back my money. Kaylene is downright rude and wants to put the blame on everyone except herself for failing to make sure my money gets returned. I am glad I don’t run my business the way they run theirs. ALL I CAN SAY IS BEWARE!!

Davis Brothers AuctionFeb 25, 2026
We take claims involving delivery issues very seriously and understand how frustrating these situations can be. For this shipment, signature confirmation was required at delivery. FedEx has provided us with delivery confirmation, GPS geolocation data showing the package was delivered to the address provided at checkout, and a recorded signature obtained at the time of delivery. Upon being notified of the concern, we promptly opened a case with FedEx and submitted the requested documentation. As the shipper, we are actively working through FedEx’s formal dispute process, which must follow their investigation procedures and timelines. We are unable to override FedEx’s investigation process or issue refunds when all of the data states that the item was delivered correctly. We stand behind our processes and documentation and remain committed to resolving legitimate claims appropriately.

Never Again
I won a POSTCARD for $20. Davis Bros. charged me $25 for shipping! I paid for the postcard and told them to throw it away... They refused to simply put it in an envelope and send it with a Forever stamp... I buy from auction houses all over the world and this is not a "friendly" place to deal with.

Davis Brothers AuctionFeb 22, 2026
We do not ship auction purchases with a stamp. All orders are professionally packed and tracked. If that doesn’t work for you, please do not bid.

Unethical, lies easily disproven in Live Auctioneers archives
Completely unresponsive until negative review, then response contained lies about the listing, although they admitted they do not reply to communications. CAVEAT EMPTOR

Davis Brothers AuctionFeb 22, 2026
We disagree with both the characterization and the facts presented in this review. The item in question was clearly marked in both the title and the description as restricted to Montana residents only due to federal and state regulations governing interstate transfer. This was not a preference or policy choice on our part, but a legal requirement. We proactively contacted the buyer immediately after the sale to offer two lawful options: shipment to a Montana address or in-person pickup with valid Montana identification. At no point did we refuse to communicate. Our position remained consistent because there was no legal alternative available to us. The buyer’s prior experiences with other sellers or other states are irrelevant to our obligation to comply with the law. We regularly refine our listings to make restrictions even more visible, as responsible auctioneers should. Protecting our business, our consignors, and our licenses is not “unethical”; it is mandatory. We regret the buyer’s frustration, but we will not violate the law to accommodate a transaction that cannot be completed legally.

Sent me a broken item-Didn't rectify situation
I ordered 2 items from them. Both small Zuni fetish animal carvings. One was great, perfect condition, the other had a broken foot. I didn't see the foot in the packaging unfortunately so it must have broken before it shipped. I contacted them and sent photos to see what could be done. Other than the broken foot I still liked the carving and wanted to keep it. I thought perhaps I could get a partial refund or credit towards another auction, etc. They didn't really even ask me any questions or return my email. I just got a random return shipping slip in my inbox when i didn't even want to return it. I felt like they didn't care. No even a "we're sorry. What can we do to fix this?" or even a "thank you for letting us know, we'll try to fix this for future customers."
