An Everything Experience
Davis Brothers Auctions is truly a “wow” auction house. Many lots begin at just $10 and may ultimately sell for thousands. Their auctions offer an extraordinary — and sometimes wonderfully surprising — combination of items from around the world. You may find fine art by well-known artists alongside antique signs, jewelry, furniture, collectibles, taxidermy and objects I would never have thought to search for. The catalogs are enormous and can take hours to explore, but they are also genuinely entertaining. If you need a gift for someone who seems to have everything, look through a Davis Brothers auction. I believe there is something for nearly everyone. I was once outbid on a painting to which I felt an exceptionally strong connection. When the winning bidder failed to pay, Davis Brothers gave me the opportunity to purchase it. I wired the money, and the painting was expedited from Missoula to Florida; remarkably, I received it within 24 hours. On another occasion, packages sent through USPS were inexplicably returned even though the address printed on every box was completely correct. I receive packages regularly, and no one could explain what happened. After a very pleasant email exchange with Davis Brothers and Matthew Davis himself, the packages were resent two days later by FedEx Express. I was very impressed by their personal attention and determination to resolve the problem. I have been very pleased with my purchases, and the items are generally described well. I gave four rather than five stars because some listings could benefit from additional photographs and more complete information, such as an item’s origin or history. The auctions are very well presented, but there is still room for improvement. Overall, Davis Brothers is unusual, fascinating and highly enjoyable — even if you never place a bid.

Happy first time buyer from this auction house
Was not sure what to expect as I read mixed reviews. Note: I had nothing short of a near perfect experience. They answered a question in a timely manner via the questions link during the auction. Invoicing was simple and efficient. All 9 of the items I purchased (some fragile/some heavy) arrived in a timely manner. The packing was meticulous with great attention to keeping breakables secure. I was actually blown away by the care in which they were packed. * I chose to have David Brothers ship vs another method. The rates were very fair given my lot totaled close to 70 pounds. I didn’t have a single negative experience. So I have no idea where some of the low star reviews came from. Some people I guess are never happy. I would 100 % participate in future auctions.

Outrageous shipping charges
Bought an item weighing an ounce (amulet) and 3 inches in length. Charged 78.00 for shipping. Contacted them immediately but no response. Contacted again, no response. They went ahead and charged my credit card despite my expressed reservations. Absolutely do not buy anything from the Davis Brothers. Look at the social media about the auction house-all negative-unresponsiveness, exorbinant shipping, etc etc. Avoid!! Avoid!!!

Ethical customer focused auction house
Davis Brothers is a very customer focused auction house that has accurate descriptions of their lots and items for sale. When requested, they communicate very effectively, and get packing and shipping expedited upon payment. I would highly recommend Davis Bros.

Fantabulous experience.
Excellent updates on my winning lot. Payment was quick and easy. Shipping was a bit slow, as it was just over 2 weeks before my item mailed, but it was packaged very securly and was well protected. Overall, very pleased with this experience and would happily bid on future lots from this auction house.

Davis Bros. always have accurate descriptions and images of lots being sold. Great follow-up after sales, shipping and billing occur almost simultaneous. In short, excellent customer support, period.

Extremely high shipping
Won 2 auctions with the combined weight and size of about 2 silver dollars. They charged $25 shipping fee for each auction for a total of $50. I sent them a message asking if they could combine both auctions into one package and deduct $25 from the total shipping. They never answered back. At least they sent two packages.

Easy positive transaction!
The items I purchased were described well, and the photos were a good representation of what I received. The packaging was outstanding! Better than I expected. Wish it could have been a little quicker, but you know, instant gratification is great. They shipped within the window they said, and you can’t ask more than that. I am hyy my grilled with my purchase and I thank David Brothers auctions for making this purchase available. Will be bidding again for sure!!

I did not appreciate the high fees for credit card purchases and the in-house shipping charges. Much higher than other auctioneers. I was not made aware of these charges until after I had won the items.

Inflating Shipping Costs for Extra Profit
My initial $35 win turned into an unexpected $100 + expense. Had I known they’d more than double the minimum shipping, I wouldn’t have bid. A $25 shipping fee for a small vase seemed reasonable, but they charged $58. There’s no justification for this exorbitant cost. Davis has responded to similar reviews by citing shipping, labor, and packing material expenses. However, based on the label’s weight of 3lb, I checked USPS’s website to calculate the cost. Ground shipping was $16, and priority shipping was $20. Assuming they purchase packing materials in bulk, there’s no reason the shipping should exceed the $25 minimum. Labor costs can’t be the sole excuse, as the high buyer premium is meant to cover such expenses. They’re clearly inflating costs for additional profit. Furthermore, their response to inquiries is virtually nonexistent. Overall, a terrible experience. Don’t expect good deals or customer service from Davis.

You pay our $2 million a year in overhead and tell me how much you would charge for shipping. You’re better off sticking to your Amazon prime membership and staying off of auction sites.

buyer beware
shipping charges were outrageous $88 for something that should have not cost more $20. THE CHARGES were higher than than the cost of item. Could have bought item on ebay for less. first and last time i will use auctions

No communication-Not happy with transaction.
I will be completing a charge back on these 2 transactions. I have sent multiple messages and emails about my concerns and not one has been responded to. Very disappointed. I have purchased 50 + items this week and my other purchases from other auction houses have been seamless.

You were autocharged for your purchase item 4 days ago, you then sent two messages on June 19th (a federal holdiay) and I quote "I no longer am Interested in these after seeing the condition they are in as well as fees for shipping that I am not okay with" This is not a lack of communication, this is a buyer with unrealistic expectations and buyer's remorse. Go buy from other places, because your business is not welcome here.

Great experience, was extremely lucky on this niche highly collectible as no reserve. I’ve paid more than 20x the strike price for the exact lithograph (different number of course). I got lucky on this auction but the shipping impressed me most. Well packed, professionally prepared for shipping. Can’t say enough about the care in shipping something like this. While this particular lithograph is limited to 300 from an obscure artist/printer, I hope to continue finding these at various auction houses. Condition was exactly as described and expected.

True to order
I won 2 commemorative coins in this auction back on May21st. The items finally came today on June 12th. (3 weeks later) The items did come as shown and described. The shipping cost $33 to ship 2 coins, which is excessive. They were wrapped in about a roll of bubble wrap, which was again, excessive. The coins were housed in their own boxes. A small amount of bubble wrap is all that was needed and def a smaller box could have been used.
